The Pro Stretch Step Stretch and Double Step Stretch helps
stretch away the pain of plantar fasciitis
A common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. This condition
is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thin layer of
tissue that supports the foot's arch.
Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:
- pain that's worse when first waking
- pain that's noticeable at the beginning of an activity but
improves as the body warms up
- pain caused by prolonged standing
- pain that worsens toward the end of the day
There are a variety of causes of plantar fasciitis, including tightness
of the foot, improper sports training, stress on the arch, foot
weakness and ill-fitting shoes. Physical conditions that may lead
to plantar fasciitis include high arches and flat feet.
Treatment of plantar fasciitis includes:
- evaluation and changes to sports training technique
- evaluation of foot shape and changes to footwear
- rest
- icing after activities
- nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for pain
A stretching and strengthening program, night splints and orthotics
also may be recommended. Cortisone injections and surgery are not
commonly used to treat the condition but both have high success
rates.
The Pro Stretch Step Stretch and Double Step Stretch to the rescue
To reduce pain and help prevent future discomfort, stretches that
focus on the calves, heels
and Achilles tendon are often recommended. Devises that focus
on proper stretching form are helpful and include:
- The Pro Stretch Step Stretch. This stretching device is useful
in treating and preventing heel pain, arch pain and plantar fasciitis.
The Pro Stretch Step Stretch device helps you perform stretches
properly and without injury because it holds you foot in an optimal
position.
- The Pro Stretch Double Step Stretch. This device offers the
same benefits as the Pro Stretch Step Stretch above, but the Pro
Stretch Double Step Stretch allows you to stretch both legs at
the same time.
Taking time to stretch properly before and after exercise is essential
to treating and preventing plantar fasciitis. For more information
