At one time or another we have all laughed
at someone who likes to wear bed socks when they sleep. But, the
truth is, bed socks could be a vital component in the effectiveness
of your footcare treatment program.
Combatting the cold with bed socks
Most, if not all, ailments involving our feet or the joints around
our feet (such as our ankles) have as one of their root-causes poor
circulation of our blood system. But, did you know that the cold
is one factor that causes us to have bad circulation? Well it does.
So, for example, if you have diabetes or gout, then your pain and
suffering is going to be compounded with the bad circulation
of you blood.
A very simple preventative method of making sure you don't have
bad circulation while you sleep - bed socks. Bed socks will assist
you in keeping your feet nice and warm so that you have good blood
circulation while you sleep. In turn, this will help offset any
onset of diabetes or gout. Seems rather strange - simply wearing
bed socks at night can help you avoid lots of unnecessary pain!
Chilblains and bed socks
Chilblains are uncomfortable small, itch red swellings that develop
on your toes, heels and lower leg. They commonly occur when your
feet get (a) cold; and (b) wet. Wearing bed socks at night can help
you combat the pain of chilblains by keeping your feet (a) warm;
and (b) dry.
So, whether it is because you want to avoid specific cold related
foot ailments such as chilblains, or whether you want to avoid more
generic ailments such as diabetes or gout, wearing night
socks can have a major impact on your footcare treatment.
