Making The Most Of Aquatic Therapy In Your Footcare Plan
If you suffer from painful foot, ankle, calf, or back problems
then you won't need to be told that any exercise regime is going
to be painful for you. At the same time, you know that without
good physiotherapy, the chances of you making a recovery from the
painful foot, ankle, calf, or back problem that ails you is not
likely going to happen and you'll never be the same person again.
You might be delighted to hear then that there is an alternative
kind of physiotherapy that'll let you regain much of your former
self without having to put any stress of your feet, ankles, calves,
or back - Aquatic Therapy!
How does aquatic therapy work?
As a non-weight bearing buoyancy therapy program,
aquatic therapy centers on the use of water - and, in particular,
the use of a swimming-pool. Essentially, foam dumbbells are used
as weights to provide you with buoyancy in the water and help you
to rebuild and strengthen the muscles in your body, without you
having to exert any pressure.
To further assist you in your recovery, any aquatic therapy program
will also rely heavily on the temperature of the water. The reason
for this is because warm water helps to circulate the blood in your
body, which in turn helps to rejuvenate the afflicted area. For
this reason, most aquatic therapy programs regulate the water in
the swimming-pool to between 92 and 94 degrees centigrade. As well
as providing you blood with constant circulation, this constant
warm water also helps you to reduce any joint soreness you may be
encountering.
After the aquatic therapy treatment program
Over time, using aquatic therapy to help reduce the pain you may
have in you feet/ankles/calves or back and to strengthen them, should
result you being able to then exert more stress to these areas.
This, in-turn, will allow you the chance to take on a more traditional
form of physiotherapy program - allowing you, hopefully, to become
your old-self again!
