Foot/Arch Support Overview
Before discussing foot/arch support it's perhaps a good idea
to first
acquaint ourselves with what the foot arch actually is and why it
is exactly
that you'd need support in this area. The foot arch is, quite
simply, the
gap found between the inner foot and the ground. People with so-called
'flat
feet' lack the necessary support in that region of the foot, causing
pressure from movement to be distributed throughout the foot, the
result of
which is severe pain and discomfort and if left untreated, possibly
even
chronic problems.
A burning sensation under the foot is symptomatic of arch pain,
which in
itself can be caused by a host of reasons: structural imbalances
in the
foot, overuse, and ill-fitting or poor support footwear all contribute
to
the onset of arch pain, but it is conditions such as plantar fasciitis
(a
strain on the plantar fascia) and tarsal tunnel syndrome (a pinched
ankle
nerve) that commonly cause such pain.
As is the case with any injured or painful area, staying off it
(in this
case, your feet) is recommended, but long-term management of the
problem may
require the use of orthotics; such as the above-mentioned foot arch
support
devices. Arch braces, sleeves, and plantar fasciitis foot
orthotics support the
arch by preventing excessive pronation (rotation of a body part)
and thereby
alleviating pain and inflammation in the heel and arch region of
the foot.
Shoe inserts and insoles neutralize pronation and help soften the
impact
felt by your feet. Constructed of materials such as polyethylene
and
neoprene, these orthotics are usually designed to be slipped into
any
suitable pair of shoes. The variations found are numerous and cater
for the
arched support needs of most every person. Arch support insoles
are
available in full and three-quarter length and include such features
as:
- - Nitrogen-injected material designed to absorb shock and provide
a soft,
flexible cushion for each insole.
- - Extended arch flange to offer the necessary support for even
those people
with high arches.
- - Inserts with extra support along the longitudinal arch for
heavier people
or those simply wanting increased protection for high-impact situations.
For a slightly less, shall we say, conventional approach, arch
pain
sufferers, and in fact anyone with ankle strain, Achilles tendonitis,
and
other such conditions can use the Step Stretch. Utilizing a rocker
design,
the device helps to alleviate lower body pain by holding your foot
in place
as you perform three, 30-second repetitions in the optimal stretching
position facilitated by the device.
Your feet are important, of that there can be no argument. They
facilitate
movement and it is they that get you from A to B. Therefore, sore
feet can
simply not be abided and to help ensure your feet remain healthy
or to give
them the relief they so desperately need, we've assembled links
