The Bort Achilles Support - German Precision Where You
Need It Most
Founded in 1981 by Rudi and Irmgard Bort and three part-timers,
Bort Medical has, in the more than twenty years of its existence,
grown from strength to strength. To the point that it now offers
200 different medical products.
One such product is of course the Bort Achilles Support. A form-fitting
nylon/cotton foot support for sufferers of Achilles Tendonitis,
the Bort Achilles wrap applies targeted compression to the ankle
and foot, thereby stimulating circulation and healing. Three built-in
silicone gel pads are placed throughout the wrap, two of which massage
the affected tendon, while the third pad absorbs heel shock. A second
heel pad is included for use with
the unaffected foot in order to even out your step.
Retailing in the region of $50, The Bort Support is not the cheapest
thing going, so it's wise (isn't it always) to be sure how to correctly
determine the size you'll need. This is done by measuring (in inches)
the widest portion of the ankle. Available sizes run from small
to extra large. While we're talking about Bort, we thought it prudent
to highlight a few other
support products, for the ultimate footcare package that'll get
you up and running, quite literally, in the quickest time possible.
This one's for the hypochondriacs among us. Go on, we know who we
are.
Other Bort footcare support products:
- - StabiloPren Ankle Support
- - TaloStabil Ankle Support with Polyethylene Pad
- - MalleoStabil Orthosis
- - Metatarsal Bandage
- - Pedisoft Toe Spreaders, Separators
The StabiloPren is a neoprene bandage with closed heel offering
variable compression and support to prevent supination and pronation.
The TaloStabil, meanwhile, offers pressure relief with the careful
placement of two polyethylene pads and is rated compression class
II. The MalleoStabil Orthosis, on the other hand is made up of two
anatomically shaped 25cm
plastic shells and features a molding foam cushion for optimal comfort
and air-gel cushioning that can be pre-cooled and applied during
the acute phase of treatment (that is to say, directly after the
injury).
The Metatarsal bandage is quite simply an elastic bandage
placed around the circumference of the forefoot and is indicated
for use by those people suffering from flat or splayfoot. Finally,
the last of our quick overview of Bort products from the ankle on
down (hey, you can never know too much, right?) are Bort's Pedisoft
toe separators and spreaders. Designed to help separate and straighten
dislocated toes while also preventing rubbing and
chafing. Constructed of silicon, these devices are smooth and comfortable
to wear, adjust automatically to the contours of your feet and toes,
and are easily washable.
Although we can't guarantee you'll find all 200 of the company's
products, for Bort's Achilles
Support and other Achilles,
ankle, foot arch and heel products, the neatly organized links
just to the right-side of this page will serve you well.
