Arch Inserts - Why Put Up With Arch or Back Pain?

Your body. Think about that for just a second. Think about everything that's
going on inside of your body right at this very moment. Mind-boggling isn't
it?
In fact, given the complexity of the body's various systems, it's a
wonder we work at all, let alone that we only get sick or injured every now
and then. The human foot for instance, contains no fewer than twenty six
bones (that's one quarter of all the bones in the body), almost three dozen
joints, and an intricate network of muscles, tendons, ligaments, veins and
tissue. Moreover, the foot is able to withstand excessive amounts of
pressure, absorbs shock, is the primary facilitator of movement and yet
despite all this, like the Energizer Bunny, just keeps going and going. Well
almost. It's inevitable that at some point in your life you will suffer from
foot problems, be it anything from simple aching feet to chronic problems.
Arch inserts, therefore, are a basic yet effective way to offer pain relief
as well as support to this most vital of body parts.

Speaking of the foot arch, the plantar fascia is the longest of the
abovementioned ligaments and it is this that forms the arch on the foot's
sole. It provides balance and stability, expanding and contracting as is
required in order to properly facilitate movement. It is inflammation in
this area, often caused by plantar fasciitis, that results in arch pain.
Fortunately, the treatment thereof is neither overly complex, nor expensive.
Simply utilizing appropriate footwear (avoid high-heeled shoes, ill-fitting
shoes and so forth) or making use of custom orthotics can provide the
necessary relief and treatment. And it is for this reason that we're
interested in the latter, namely, arch shoe inserts.

Available in a wide variety of designs and fashioned from a host of
materials, arch inserts are designed to support your feet, stabilize the
heel and reduce stress at key points throughout the foot. They do this by
absorbing shock, and distributing load across the foot so that it does not
overly affect any one particular area. Ranging in price from ten dollars to
in excess of $120 for a custom-crafted arch insert, there really is a pain
relief solution for every budget. That being said, choosing the right arch
insole can be a difficult task, so we've highlighted a few of the products
below just to get you started:

Arch Shoe Insert Products

  • IsoArch 3/4 arch supports provide longitudinal arch support, metatarsal
support, a shock absorbing heel as well as a heel cup for stability; fits
flat and normal feet; and retails for around $20.
  • Superfeet Insoles are available for most any occasion (for women's
high-heeled dress shoes, athletic performance shoes etc.) and are designed
to prevent overpronation -- excessive rotation of the foot -- thereby
lessening strain on not only the feet but the ankles, hips and lower back.
  • ArchMates 3/4 Regular Support are engineered to relief pain in the Plantar
Pain Zone (the midfoot for all intents and purposes). Made of EVA foam and
brushed polyester sockliner, ArchMates offer best results when worn on a
daily basis for at least a month.
