A Sensitive Toe can be painful and it may be caused by
a variety of conditions
Do you suffer from toe pain? A sensitive toe can be the result
of a variety of medical conditions. If you suffer from toe pain,
it's important to see your doctor. What are some causes for sensitive
toes and toe pain? Sensitive toes and toe pain can be caused by
the following conditions:
- Corns. A corn is a type of callus that can toe pressure and
pain.
- Bursitis. Bursitis, an inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs
that protect the joints in toes, can cause toe pain.
- Ingrown toenails. Ingrown toenails, which most commonly occur
in the big toes of the feet, can cause pain. Ingrown toenails
may develop as the result of poor toenail trimming as well as
ill-fitting shoes.
- Bunions. A bunion can cause toe pain and sensitivity.
- Hammertoes. A hammertoe is a deformity of the toe joint that
can cause toe pain and discomfort.
- Diabetes. Conditions caused by diabetes, including poor blood
circulation in the feet, can lead to sensitive toes and other
toe conditions.
- Frostbite. Frostbite is tissue damage caused by extreme cold.
Even minor frostbite can cause toe sensitivity.
How is the cause of a sensitive toe diagnosed?
If you experience toe pain and sensitive toes, see your doctor
or podiatrist. He or she will examine the affected toe and talk
to you about your symptoms. From this information, your doctor will
make a diagnosis.
