Indulge your Feet with a Soothing Foot Balm for Better Foot Health
A persons feet can get a real workout in the modern world,
whether you are running to stay in shape, walking or standing as
part of your job, or just gardening on the weekend, your feet could
use a little special treatment, and a soothing foot balm may be
just the thing.
Foot balm has at least three positive effects on good foot health:
- Foot balm can help open pores and kill bacteria. Many good
quality foot balms (see the product pages on the right for
examples) contain active ingredients which open pores and
even kill bacteria. These active ingredients can be natural
substances like peppermint oil or medicine like an aluminum
chloride hexahydrate solution.
- Rubbing foot balm into your feet can relax sore muscles and
prevent injuries. Foot balm can serve as an excellent medium
for self massage, so that just the act of rubbing your feet
helps to revive tired muscles. Relaxed and supple muscles
are much less likely to get pulled or strained, so foot balm
can help prevent those sorts of injuries. This is particularly
important for athletes or for individuals whose work requires
standing or lots of walking.
- Foot balm can soften dry skin. Since most foot balms contain
emollients, they can also help to soften dry skin, which may
be the result of pressure from tight fitting footwear or too
much skin-drying soap. While foot balms are not a solution
to callus or corn problems, in conjunction with proper
soaking and well fitting shoes, foot balm can help prevent
calluses and corns.
