Shoe Stretcher

Alleviate the pain of tight shoes with an affordable Shoe Stretcher

If your too-tight shoes have been causing bunions, toe pain or other foot problems, consider a shoe stretcher to stop the problem at its source. A shoe stretcher expands your shoes to give you a more roomy, comfortable fit. The great thing about a shoe stretcher is that it extends the use of your shoes through injuries and other foot problems. Shoe stretchers are an inexpensive way to keep your shoes fitting perfectly, no matter what your feet go through.

Here's how shoe stretchers work and how they can help you keep your feet pain-free:

  • Most shoe stretchers have a metal pole attached to two wooden (or plastic) pieces that form the shape of a shoe.
  • First, insert the wooden end of the shoe stretcher into the shoe.
  • Twist the metal pole on the shoe stretcher to separate the two wooden pieces, and widen the front end of the shoe.
  • Many shoe stretchers will allow you to put “plugs” in the wooden portion of the shoe. This extra nub will allow your shoe stretcher to stretch problem areas.

When looking for a shoe stretcher, consider how many pairs of shoes on which you will be using the shoe stretcher. If it's just for one or two pairs that are particularly tight, you may be able to get away with a less expensive shoe stretcher. If a foot problem is causing you to stretch most or all of your shoes, it's important to find a high-quality shoe stretcher made of durable materials.
