If you fall, land on your feet the wrong way, or injure your foot
in a car accident, while exercising or playing sports, you could

include swelling, extreme pain, bruising, numbness, and not being
able to apply pressure, or stand on your foot. If you experience

Once you have been diagnosed with an ankle fracture, it is important
that you take extreme care of your condition to ensure that it heals
properly. Ask your doctor what you should and should not take for
any pain you may be experiencing, and listen to what he or she has
to tell you. Refrain from getting your cast or splint wet, and leave
your bandages alone. Make sure when you walk you apply all pressure
to your crutches, and keep a close eye on the surrounding area around
your cast. If you notice your skin changing to a darker shade, feel
numbness in your toes or increasing pain in your fractured ankle,
seek medical attention immediately. Remember, knowing how to take
care of your ankle fracture will help it to heal faster, so you
can get on with enjoying your life to the fullest.
