Mobility is the freedom of movement that the majority of
people who do not suffer from any injuries or illnesses enjoy
Mobility is being able to go places whenever you would like
without having to depend on the help and support of others. For
many having mobility means using an electric wheelchair. For others,
mobility means that they can use crutches, canes, walkers and other
means of enabling them to get around on their own. It refers to
being able to avail of public transportation. Many cities have been
able to help disabled residents with their mobility problems by
installing electric lifts on buses and this gives these people independence
in being able to do their own shopping.
Disabled people make up a quite a large percentage of the motoring
public. Vehicle manufacturers are responding to the need for mobility
by designing cars for a wide range of disabilities and give their
customers the mobility they desire and deserve. One example of enabling
a disabled person to drive a car is to arrange the seating so that
the seat is similar to a wheelchair, while another example of providing
increased mobility is to have the gas and brake levers attached
to the wheel.
Such advances in mobility have given many people back the quality
of life they once knew. Increased mobility gives them the freedom
to enjoy life to the fullest without having to call on someone to
help them.
