Burning Feet

Burning Feet is a common complaint among older people over the age of 50, but it's also a complaint of younger people too

Burning feet is most commonly found among diabetics who have been dependent on insulin for some time. Having burning feet is the result of a loss of sensation in the bottoms of the feet. However, burning feet can also be caused by long-term alcohol usage, thyroid dysfunction and gastric restriction. Other causes for burning feet could be leishmaniasis, a rarely reported infectious disease or a pinched nerve between the third and fourth toes.

Treatments for burning feet vary according to the medical history of the patient. The most important thing in treating burning feet is the diagnosis, which is made using X-Rays and blood tests. A general practitioner who sees a patient with the burning feet problem will usually refer him/her to a podiatrist, a doctor trained to deal with foot problems. A cream called Boswella Cream has been found to be helpful to those with burning feet. There are also Boswella Capsules which can be taken as treament for burning feet to help improve the blood flow to joints and restore the integrity of blood vessels obliterated by spasm of internal damage. A patient with burning feet can also wear magnetic therapy insoles in their footwear.

Burning feet is a very uncomfortable problem that wakes those who have it out of a sound sleep. Often the only comfort they can get is to get up out of bed and walk around.
